Paracel plans to produce 1.8 million tons/year in the pulp mill project in Concepción, Paraguay, with forest assets of more than 180,000 hectares of its own land. Today, the next step was taken, the selection of the first supplier of the factory project, after a process of evaluation and negotiation at a global level.

Doosan Skoda has been selected to supply two turbogenerators to the factory, for the production of 220 MW of renewable electricity. Half will be used for the operation of the factory and the other half will be supplied to the ANDE network in the region, as recently reported by Paracel.

The Paracel Project Manager, Luciano Lafuente, explains: “Skoda represents proven cutting-edge technology with the first-class quality required in the industrial plant. The engineering work and commercial negotiations that led to this decision have been very demanding, so it's very satisfying to be able to announce this big step now.”

The CEO of Paracel, Nils Grafström, adds: “This important selection is the starting point for the next supplier announcements of the entire factory project. Now we have very intense times ahead of us to select all the necessary suppliers.”

Michal Sarpong from Doosan Skoda adds: “Paracel represents the beginning of the third wave of pulp mills in Latin America and we see great growth opportunities for the industry in Paraguay. We are very happy to have been selected by the Paracel engineering team and look forward to the execution.”
