Paracel announces first contract signing for the Forest Development Program
The Forest Development Program stems from the need to increase the availability of wood for raw materials at the national level and with the social commitment to provide a business alternative for producers in Paracel's areas of influence.
This program focuses on income generation and the diversification of producers' activities, making their economy more viable through the planting of eucalyptus trees, and at the same time guaranteeing the existence of raw materials for the industry.
In this regard, on Friday morning, the first contract was signed with the company Ganadera R5 S.R.L for the afforestation of 2,800 ha, corresponding to 560,000 m3 of wood. This property is located in the districts of San Alfredo and Paso Barreto, department of Concepción.
Agustín Alonso Zapag and Per Olofsson participated in this event, representing Paracel and Raúl Doria Cortés for the company Ganadera R5 S.R.L. In addition, they were accompanied by Rodolfo Vouga, from the law firm Vouga Abogados and the CEO of Paracel, Flavio Deganutti.
Under the Forest Development Program, Paracel aims to reach 100,000 ha over the years, and in 2023 to achieve 4000 ha planted, in an area of influence 200 km from the industrial plant site, located in the district of Paso Horqueta.
Some of the benefits associated with this program are:
• Strengthening the local, regional and national forest-based economy.
• Strengthening work in the field.
• Increase in employment opportunities and income in the territory.
• Promotion of regional entrepreneurship.
• Compliance with legislation.
• The surfaces of forest plantations will capture significant amounts of carbon present in the air, so Paracel will contribute to mitigating the increase in the concentration of CO2, the main Greenhouse Gas (GHG) that causes global warming.
• Diversification of income.
