More companies join the Paracel Forest Development Program

The Forest Development Program closed its second contract for the purchase of wood with a national company. This agreement guarantees the availability of raw materials and also strengthens social commitment to producers in the area as a business alternative.

The contract was signed with the company Plan Sur S.A., whose property is located in the town of Arroyito, district of the department of Concepción.

The signatories of the contract were Agustín Alonso Zapag and Per Olofsson, representing Paracel and Ángel Daniel Ayala Gill for the company Plan Sur S.A. The event was accompanied by the CEO of Paracel, Flavio Deganutti; Fabiano Stein, Forest Director and Eliodoro Medina, Forest Development Manager.

The program's catchment area is 200 km from the factory, located in Zapatero Cué district of Paso Horqueta, about 30 km from the city of Concepción. The objective is to generate income and diversify activities for producers, institutions or interested organizations, making their economy more viable through the planting of eucalyptus trees.

Some of the benefits associated with this program are:

• Strengthening the local, regional and national forest-based economy.

• Strengthening work in the field.

• Increase in employment opportunities and income in the territory.

• Promotion of regional entrepreneurship.

• Compliance with legislation.

• The surfaces of forest plantations will capture significant amounts of carbon present in the air, so Paracel will contribute to mitigating the increase in the concentration of CO2, the main Greenhouse Gas (GHG) that causes global warming.
