The Paraguayan company Paracel S.A. announced today that ANDRITZ has been selected as a supplier of processing equipment for the 1.8 million tons/year pulp mill to be built in Concepción, Paraguay. ANDRITZ will be the supplier of all process islands.

Paracel plans to produce 1.8 million tons/year in the pulp mill project in Concepción, Paraguay, with forest assets of 185,000 ha of its own land. The company, founded on November 12, 2018, has since forested more than 17000 hectares, has already completed the design of the factory, received the construction permit for the factory, completed environmental and social impact assessments, carried out important land works on the factory site, completed the documentation for CO2 sequestration and has established action plans for the native forest conservation project and social programs.

The selection of the supplier of process equipment is a key milestone in the project. The work with potential suppliers has been carried out for more than 2 years, using the highest criteria of sustainability, health and safety, and productivity over time.

ANDRITZ was selected thanks to its cutting-edge technology, its excellent delivery reputation, its regional knowledge and its wide scope of delivery under the modality of EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction).

The CEO of Paracel, Nils Grafström, explains: “We are happy to have reached an agreement with ANDRITZ. The process became more complicated than usual due to the pandemic, supply chain interruption, geopolitical conflicts, etc., but the two teams have worked tirelessly to achieve this goal.”

Paracel's project manager, Luciano Lafuente, explains: “Paracel has selected the leading solution in terms of technology and sustainability. ANDRITZ provides full integration of manufacturing processes, including plant maintenance and automation services. With this partnership, we will achieve maximum performance during the execution of the project and the operation of the industrial plant.”

The Purchasing Director of Paracel, Jorge Pisani, adds: “This agreement is a sign that the world is returning to normal. I'm confident that we'll be able to make more announcements soon.”

Joachim Schönbeck, President & CEO of ANDRITZ, adds: “We are deeply honored to have been selected by Paracel to provide the main energy efficient and environmentally friendly process equipment and technologies for pulp production. We are grateful to Paracel and look forward to continuing our good cooperation during the execution of the project.”
